The workshop will be devoted to the physics and applications of the fundamental phenomenon of super-oscillation that describes localised fast variations of functions and fields that happen at frequencies higher than the highest Fourier component of their spectra.
The physical implications of this effect are in information theory, quantum mechanics and optics of classical fields. Research in the subject is rapidly growing internationally and now includes photonics and nano-photonics, quantum optics, electron optics, ultrafast optical pulse generation and biomedical imaging. The workshop will feature keynote talk and a series of invited presentation. Contributed poster presentations will also be solicited. Prof Yakir Aharonov and Prof Sir Michael Berry will give keynote talks at the workshop. Journal of Optics (IOP) is planning a special issue on the workshop.
